8th ebm-papst Innovation Forum: Smart Minds – Smart Solutions

Under the motto “Smart minds. Smart solutions,” the two-day ebm-papst Innovation Forum was held in May. A total of 170 accredited visitors from all over Germany accepted the invitation to come to Mulfingen and discuss the refrigeration and air conditioning sector’s latest developments. Twenty-five presentations from experts in the sector provided plenty of input.

ebm-papst strengthens US business with second location

ebm-papst is strengthening its business in North America with a second production site. In Johnson City, Tennessee, the world market leader for fans and motors will manufacture fans for refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation applications. ebm-papst will move into an existing production building in Johnson City and start serial production in September 2019.

Centrifugal fans for efficient precision air-conditioning units

Half of the electrical energy required in a data center must be used just for cooling the hardware. At the same time, higher computational capacity over the same floor space is expected, which places additional strain on the cooling systems. FanGrid keeps fans cool in cinema

The air conditioner in the cinema at Singapore’s Century Square shopping mall was loud and expensive to operate, and its fans needed frequent maintenance. A retrofit put an end to that, making both the cinema’s customers and its operator happy.

Avoiding damage caused by vibrations

Fans used in ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning or other industrial applications have to prove themselves in long endurance tests. But in practice, failures still occur after far fewer hours of operation than specified in. Ruined motor bearings are a typical kind of damage, usually caused by vibrations resulting from the way the fans are installed.
